THE AKC IS LIKE THE HOTEL CALIFORNIA - quote "YOU CAN CHECK OUT ANY TIME YOU WANT BUT YOU CAN NEVER LEAVE" unquote. Try having your dogs removed from their registry.

FOLLOW THE MONEY! AKC HANDLERS - EACH HANDLER PAYS A $250.00 TO BE REGISTERED ACCORDING TO THEIR WEBSITE: http://www.akc.org/handlers/links.cfm IT ONLY MAKES SENSE THAT AKC REGISTERED DOGS HANDLED BY REGISTERED AKC HANDLERS WILL MOST LIKELY WIN EVERYTIME. Here is an example of what AKC handlers may charge:

Best in Show………….……$450
Reserve Best In Show.........$270
Best In Show National…….$470
Best in Specialty…………..$250
Group I.……...………………$95
Group II……....………………$90
Group III………....……………$80
Group IV………...……………$75

HOW LONG DO YOU THINK AKC REGISTERED HANDLERS WILL CONTINUE TO PAY THE AKC FEE IF THEY DO NOT WIN? I HAVE PUT THE PIECES TOGETHER AND FOLLOWED THE MONEY TRAIL. REGISTRATIONS, ENTRY FEES, AKC "SO-CALLED" BREEDERS OF MERIT, AND FINALLY THE AKC HANDLERS. WHEN YOU HAVE A REGSITRY WHO WILL REGISTER ANYTHING, REGARDLESS OF HEALTH AND OWNER'S SIGNATURE IT CAN ONLY MEAN ONE THING IN MY EYES. ANYBODY CAN WIN WITH THE RIGHT AKC HANDLER, AND ANYBODY CAN REGISTER ANYTHING WITHOUT REGARD FOR HEALTH OR OWNER'S PERMISSION. BASED ON MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCES AND WATCHING THE DOGS "WINNING" IN THE RING; I HAVE COME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT THERE ARE FAR SUPERIOR DOGS THAT NOBODY HAS SEEN BECAUSE THEY DO NOT WISH TO THROW THEIR MONEY AT AN ORGINIZATION WHO WILL NOT PROTECT THEM OR THEIR DOGS. AKC REGISTRATION TO ME IS LIKE THE "KISS OF DEATH" ! You do not have to be a rocket scientist to "follow the show money in AKC", Based on my observations; I have come to the conclusion that winning in the AKC ring has nothing to do with conformation, only money. Old, snooty, condescending AKC show breeders will give all their excuses; buy seriously, just follow the money!. I heard all the excuses like I am sickly and can't show my own dog. Yup, heard a lot of them. HOWEVER, YOU WOULD HAVE TO BE BLIND NOT TO SEE IT!

And while I am on the topic, I would like to mention how they will brag about the B.O.W.s., B.O.B, etc. etc. Really? This is very funny. So many times they are the only dog entered in their class. Wow, they beat themselves. Hey Congratulations! Do your research. Don't believe their big marketing

WHAT IS THE TOP WINNING DOG MEAN? BASED ON WHAT I HAVE SEEN PERSONALLY, IT MEANS YOU HAVE SPENT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO SEND YOUR DOG IN A CRATE WITH A BIG TIME HANDLER ALL OVER THE COUNTRY TO COMPETE AT EVERY POSSIBLE SHOW TO RACK UP POINTS. MOST OF THE TIME IF YOU DO THIS WITH A TIBETAN MASTIFF, THERE IS NO COMPETITION, SO YOU GO TO GROUP, AND GET A JUDGE THAT LIKES THE HANDLER , YOU RACK UP WHAT I REFER TO AS "UNEARNED" POINTS. BASED ON WHAT I KNOW AND SEE WITH MY OWN EYES, THIS DOES NOT MEAN YOU HAVE THE "BEST" DOG. ACTUALLY, BASED ON WHAT I HAVE SEEN, THE DOG IS USUALLY A DOG I WOULD NEVER WANT, BOTH FOR HEALTH AND STRUCTURE. I AM THINKING THE OWNER HAS JUST WASTED A BUNCH OF MONEY CARTING THE DOG AROUND THE COUNTRY, ONLY MAKING THE BREED WORSE BECAUSE PEOPLE WILL BUY THE MARKETING AND HYPE. DON'T BUY INTO THE AKC "GAME". FIND YOURSELF A DOG YOU LIKE FROM A NORMAL "REPUTABLE" PERSON AND I THINK YOU WILL BE MUCH HAPPIER. YOU WILL PROBABLY GET A MUCH HEALTHIER AND ALL AROUND BETTER DOG. THESE ARE MY OPINIONS BASED ON MY EXPERIENCES, WHAT I HAVE SEEN, AND BY COMPARING DOGS OUTSIDE THE RING TO THOSE TROLLED AROUND BY A HIGH PAID AKC HANDLER.

Winning in the AKC show ring isn't about the merit or quality of the dog based on what I have seen. It is very subjective. It's not like soccer or baseball where a win is defined on performance. It is based solely on the judge's subjective opinion which can be influenced by all the ourside factors and money trail I have described above. I have found most of the show scene to be filled with nasty, catty, and vindictive people. I think it is a big waste of time and money and has no real value when seeking out a puppy .

WHY DOG SHOW ENTRIES DECLINE
AND CLUBS SUFFER - "VENDORS"

DOES AN AKC INSPECTION CERTIFICATE MEAN ANYTHING?

quote: " For this, a great many people rely on the American Kennel Club (AKC) for breeder recommendations, operating under the assumption that when the AKC endorses a breeder it means that breeder is taking excellent care of their dogs, following a high health standard, and indeed breeding healthy animals.Evidence is mounting that this is not the case at all, that in fact certification by the AKC means very little, except that the breeder in question has paid a a fee to the AKC. When Wayne Pacelle, president and CEO of the Humane Society of the United States was asked whether seeing “AKC approved” on a breeders website or facility meant you were getting a healthy, humanely raised dog he said this “Absolutely not. It really is just a piece of paper without any value for dog welfare.”Lillian Devera found this out first hand when she bought a puppy from what she thought was a reputable breeder, with an “AKC-inspected” kennel. Instead she got “A very sick puppy.” The dog had intestinal parasites, an upper respiratory infection and a congenital eye defect, though records showed that the facility had been inspected only weeks before. Law enforcement went in 2 months later and rescued over 20 dogs. This is not an isolated incident. It turns out that the AKC has only 9 inspectors on staff, for the entire United States. When asked, they refused to comment on what percentage of breeders actually get inspected, though they did say they had conducted 55,000 inspections since 2000. The AKC is also known to have opposed laws that would regulate breeders based on the number of dogs they have, and require new standards or inspections. " unquote

To sum it up IN MY OPINION BASED ON MY DIRECT EXPERIENCES;
AKC showing is not about structure; it's all aboutthe money, politics, power,
and I think it is a huge waste of time and money!
